Their code.
Your business.

A stalled Symfony build, an incomplete handover, or developers who've moved on. We help you understand what you have and move it forward.

Start with
what's there.

Setfive is a small software team in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with experience taking over established Symfony applications and partial builds. We learn the code and the business before proposing changes.

  • The developer left. The application didn't.

Customers still use it and someone needs to keep it running. We work through code, hosting, and deployment access, then identify the immediate maintenance gaps and a practical handover plan.

  • The build has stalled short of useful.

Some features work, others are unfinished, and the original plan is hard to trust. We compare the implementation with what the business actually needs and scope the work that would make it usable.

  • Nobody knows why it works that way.

Undocumented rules and fragile integrations make even small changes difficult. We trace important workflows through the application and document the behavior that the next engineer needs to understand.

  • Every fix seems to break something else.

Recurring bugs can point to a deeper problem in the data model or implementation. We investigate the cause, separate urgent fixes from longer-term improvements, and plan changes around keeping the business running.

A plan, not an automatic rewrite.

We begin with a conversation about the business and a review of the repositories and environment. Then we explain what we can support, what needs attention, and where uncertainty remains. A takeover should make ownership clearer, not replace one black box with another.

Let's untangle
the handover.

Tell us what's working, what's stalled, and what access you have. If there's an urgent operational issue, mention it so we can discuss expectations before taking anything on.

You'll talk directly with the engineers doing the work. We'll ask about the workflow, the systems it depends on, and your budget or timing constraints before recommending a next step.

Before the handover.

A few things you might be wondering before getting in touch.

Talk about your project
Can you take over a partially finished Symfony application?

Yes, when the application is a fit for our team. We review what's implemented, what's missing, and the state of the repository and environment before proposing a completion plan. We don't assume the original specification is still the right scope.

What if we don't have documentation?

That's common in inherited projects. We use the code, application behavior, and conversations with the people who use it to understand important workflows. Missing documentation adds discovery work, but doesn't automatically rule out a takeover.

What do we need from the previous developers?

Repository access, deployment information, hosting and domain ownership, dependency details, and any existing documentation are useful. We can help identify what's missing. Access and permission to use the code need to be established before we can support it.

Can we share the code under an NDA?

Yes. We can discuss a mutual NDA before reviewing the repository. Start with a description of the project; don't send credentials or sensitive data through the contact form.

Can you stay involved after the takeover?

Yes. Once we understand the application, we can agree on ongoing maintenance and development. Capacity, priorities, and support expectations are discussed explicitly, so a takeover doesn't imply unlimited or round-the-clock support.
